Nitish Kumar has shown his character by appointing a corrupt Mewalal Chaudhary as the Education Minister

Will Ram Nath Kovind and Sushil Kumar Modi demonstrate their character by reacting to the appointment of this tainted man against whom they had raised their voice when they were on the opposite side of the political divide?

It was 2017. Nitish Kumar was the Chief Minister of Bihar, but after breaking with the BJP and in alliance with the RJD. Sushil Modi of the BJP was the Leader of the Opposition and Ram Nath Kovind, a long-standing BJP leader, was the Governor of Bihar. Mewalal Chaudhary was then a JD (U) MLA.

Prior to contesting elections in 2015 on a JD(U) ticket,, Chaudhary, a long-time loyalist of Nitish Kumar, had served for five years as the Vice Chancellor of the newly set-up Agriculture University at Bhagalpur, Bihar.
Chaudhary, it turned out, was the prime accused in an appointment scam — he was instrumental in illegal recruitment of 161 Assistant Professors and Junior Scientists in complete violation of norms. On the basis of the complaint of several candidates for these jobs, Governor Kovind, in his ex-officio capacity as the Chancellor of the University, had ordered a preliminary inquiry and found the charges to be true. On his direction, an FIR was lodged against Chaudhary in 2017 under several IPC sections including 420 (cheating and dishonesty) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).

Sushil Modi, as BJP legislative party leader, had then demanded that Chaudhury be dismissed and arrested on corruption charges (further investigation had shown that Mewalal Chaudhary had also misappropriated several crores in the building construction scam in the same university).

Look at the brazenness of Nitish Kumar: the same scamster has now been appointed as the Education Minister of the State! But the wheel has turned; in 2020, Sushil Modi and Ram Nath Kovind are on the same side of the political divide as Nitish Kumar is.

Will they now show their character and speak up as they had done in 2017?

Isn’t you expectation meaningless in these dark times? I am reminded of a well known belief popular among some religious groups who believe in a magical pond. The specialty of the pond is that if a black crow takes a dip, it would turn white meaning thereby that anybody suffering from any illness shall be cured of all diseases after taking dip in the magical pond. These days the name of this magical pond has changed to NDA/BJP. If you are part of this group then you are above every rule/law or moral value! Ha ha, Mera Bharat Mahan!!

They will ‘ show their character ‘ and keep mum…
